KAYONZA — Two Kayonza District officials who were recently been arrested over alleged reports of abuse of office, have been released as investigations into their case continue.

The provincial court in Ngoma District released the Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development, Augustin Sibomana and the District Executive Secretary, Daniel Mutagambwa last Friday.

"They were released on Friday and the prosecution is still gathering more evidence about the matter. But they have not resumed their official duties, there are procedures to follow before resuming their duties,” the Mayor Damas Muhororo, said on Monday.

The pair is accused of supporting two businessmen to acquire a loan of about Rwf.49m and Rwf.26m respectively from Commercial Bank of Rwanda (BCR), which the two have since failed to repay.

The district authorities ordered an investigation into their case about two weeks ago.
