Editor,

City Officials, residents of Kacyiru in the area next to KBC round-about opposite and around the IPOSITA are suffering over the weekends due to two loud churches that are using the IPOSITA facilities as their place of worship.

Every Friday night from approximately 20.30hrs, both churches start their night services complete with very loud megaphone and go on till past midnight.

The churches seem to be in competition with one another as to which is louder than the other and this is causing we residents and our children sleepless nights.

Come Saturday, things turn for the worse, since this is the day there will be wedding ceremonies and/or choir practice. The noise pollution starts at about midday and may go on until 22.00 hrs only for them to wake you up on Sunday morning as early as 07.00 Hrs.

Some of us have tried unsuccessfully to ask them numerous times to lower the volume of the mega phones. Does the City of Kigali have a noise pollution policy like other capital cities of the world?

The IPOSITA building should serve its primary role to provide postal services and not rent out their premises to organizations which are causing a nuisance to the otherwise peaceful and tranquil atmosphere of the area. Gikuima.
