Rwanda’s national team, Amavubi Stars depart for Malawi tonight ahead of their scheduled friendly match on May 31 in Blantyre.

The team departs at 7pm aboard Rwandair to South Africa where they will spend a night before connecting to Malawi tomorrow afternoon.

The Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa yesterday said that the team would have a stopover in Johannesburg before heading to Blantyre for Sunday’s friendly match.

Just like Rwanda who are using the friendly as a build up to their 2010 World/ CAN qualifier against Zambia, Malawi are also using the tie as preparation ground for their qualifier against Burkina Faso on June 7.

Amavubi Stars coach Tucak Branko will officially name the traveling squad today. The Croat will name a 19-man squad as Olivier Karekezi and Libya based defender Saddou Boubakary are expected to link with the team in Blantyre.

Rwanda were held to a goalless home draw in their first qualifier against Algeria and are desperate for a good result in Lusaka to boost their World/ CAN hopes.

African champions Egypt who drew 1-1 against Zambia to leave Group C wide open will lock horns with Algeria on June 7 in a Northern Africa affair.
