Marine Captain Aboubacar Barame also weighed in 18 points as the 2007 champions ran riot outscoring the varsity side in all four quarters.

"We have a target and we are playing to it. We are in good shape as a team and getting better by the day,” Barame who joined Marine in the off-season from APR said.

After this victory, Marine picked up another on Sunday to jointly go top of the league table with defending champions APR. The Rubavu based side fielded a string side but still saw off UGB 68-50.

Meanwhile, after powering to an easy 70-39 victory over a depleted Espoir side, the indomitable lions wrapped up their weekend in style with an 88-72 victory over a solid CSK side. It was CSK’s first defeat of the season. After day five of the league, APR and Marine, the only sides yet to lose a game are joint table leaders  with eight points.

Espoir are third with six points while CSK and UNR are level in fourth spot with five points. Rusizi with four points join in sixth position while KIE and UGB, who are still winless, are tied at the foot with three points.
