The women national football league champions APR walloped hapless Rayon Sport 9-0 at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium on Sunday.

The military side was absolutely top drawer from the start. Midfielder Emelyne Izabayo scored a brace while Fatuma Kankindi, Hamid Murekatete and Aime Flora Tuziyere scored a goal each to give the club a 5-0 half-time lead.

Anatoile Nirere then sealed the rout with four goals in the second half to hand Rayon Sport their heaviest defeat in the league.

APR coach Egidia Kayitesi believes the team can still retain the title.

"We started the season poorly because most of the players had injuries but they are back and in good form. This win can confirm it,”Kayitesi said in post match interview.

APR with 21 points is now two points adrift of league leaders AS Kigali who were made to fight for their 2-1 win over Musanze.

Musanze are in third with 19 points.
