Gahonzire promoted to Deputy Commissioner General

KIGALI - The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday approved and confirmed promotions within the Police Force which saw over 954 senior and junior officers promoted to higher ranks.

KIGALI - The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday approved and confirmed promotions within the Police Force which saw over 954 senior and junior officers promoted to higher ranks.

Among those promoted is the Acting Commissioner General of Police, Mary Gahonzire, who was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner General of Police (DCPG).

Among other major promotions are senior officers Steven Balinda and Cyprien Gatete who were promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP) while Joseph Zikama Mugisha, Emmanuel Butera, Vianney Nshimiyimana, Bruce Munyambo, Joel Ndahiro, Sam Karemera, Felix Namuhoranye and Jeannot Ruhunga were all promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

Also promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) include Damas Gatare, Jimmy Hodari, Tony Kuramba, Alexander Muhirwa, Elisa Kabera, Francis Nkwaya, Bosco Rangira, Abdou Nzabonimpa, Jean Baptiste Seminega and Freddy Murenzi.

Others include Joseph Rudasingwa, Peter Hodari, Celestine Twahirwa, Elias Mwesigye, Reverien Rugwizangoga Rogers Rutikanga and John Uwamungu, the current Police Spokesperson.

Cabinet also approved the promotion of 51 Junior Officers to the rank of Superintendent (SUPT) while 112 Junior Officers were promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector of Police (CIP).

174 Junior Officer were promoted to the rank of Inspector of Police (IP) while 94 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO’s) were moved from the rank of Sergeant to Chief Sergeant (C-SGT).

Also promoted by the Cabinet meeting at Urugwiro Village are 54 Corporals promoted to the Rank of Sergeant while 441 Junior Policemen were given the rank of Corporal.

Prior to her promotion, Gahonzire had the rank of Commissioner of Police.
