Rwanda is not fielding any athlete in the Pan Africa Permit meet which started yesterday in Khartoum, Sudan. According to the Rwanda Athletics Federation (RAF) Secretary General Apollinaire Munyangoga, Rwanda did not receive any invitation from the organisers of the meet.

The Pan Africa Permit meet will qualify athletes for the World Championships in Berlin in August.

RAF wants to send Sylvain Rukundo and Jean Baptist Simuceka to a training camp in Italy which will see them engage in different competitions aimed at beating the qualification time for the world championships.

However, Dieudonne Disi and Epiphanie Nyirabarame have already qualified for the World championship.

Disi qualified back in April after beating the minimum qualification time of 2hours and 18 minutes in the Paris Marathon. The ace athlete clocked 2 hours and 12 minutes.

Nyirabarame qualified during last year’s Rome marathon.
