As Kigali Club president Fabrice Shema Ngoga says he wants to make the team the best in the country and also challenge in continental competitions next season.

Shema stressed that the club is young as it is a little over two decades old but they have great aspirations.

"I want to build a team capable of challenging anyone in Africa. I want to build a fearful team which will be the best on the continent,” Shema stated during the unveiling of new players and seasonal activities for 2022/2023

"The team is just over 20 years old. Supporting AS Kigali will be a profit because fans will always go home happy.”

Club skipper Haruna Niyonzima urged his colleagues to be united because they are fighting for the same course.

"If we are not united, we cannot achieve anything. Football is like boarding a bus, people get off and others join but the aim is to reach a destination.”

"Our aim is to go as far as possible in all competitions and try to win a trophy. We are ready to work for AS Kigali and we will do our best.”

Andre Casa Mbungo who guided the team to lift the Peace Cup last season thanked Eric Nshimiyimana and his other predecessors who he admitted laid a good platform for him to continue.

Mbungo further reiterated that people are of the view that getting to the Confederation Cup group stages is not feasible but he strongly believes it is a possibility if they work hard and have adequate preparations.

The new players the club unveiled were Gilbert Dusingizimana who was signed from Kiyovu, Striker Jacques Tuyisenge from APR FC, Rucogoza Alex from Bugesera, Jean Bosco Akayezu who featured for Etincelles last season and young attacker Moise Nyarugabo.

The others are foreign players namely midfielder Lawrence Juma and goalkeeper Odhiambo Frederick from Kenya, Landry Ndikumana from Burundi, central defender Edward Satulo from Uganda and striker Man Ykre from Cameroon.

AS Kigali will kick start their 2022/23 league campaign against Etincelles whereas in the CAF Confederation Cup, they will face Djiboutian outfit ASAS Djibouti in the preliminary round.
