L-R: Buravan is in good hands and is receiving treatment in India, according to his brother; Kenny Sol refused to perform at Rwanda Rebirth Celebration concert on Saturday at BK Arena; producer Clement Ishimwe and singer Knowless Butera celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary recently.

The first week of August has been all about entertainment with several shows varying from fashion to music happening over the weekend.

The New Times looks at five showbiz stories that made headlines last week.

Sick Buravan in good hands

One of the stories shocking the showbiz community is Buravan’s health condition. He is fighting for his life in India, where he is hospitalized after spending over a week at King Faisal Hospital, battling an illness that is not-yet identified.

Buravan flew to India for advanced medical treatment at a time when some tweeps started to pronounce him dead, although his family was quick to refute the rumor.

The delay of his diagnosis has left the singer’s friends and fans puzzled and many were sending him messages of comfort and prayers.

However, his brother has assured the public that he is in good hands and that people should not panic over his health.

Why did Kenny Sol really refuse to perform?

While music enthusiasts are still cheering on the show that musician The Ben put up at Kigali Arena on Saturday, it remains unclear why singer Kenny Sol would object to performing at a concert that involves only Rwandan music.

The New Times has established that he refused to go to stage because he was not allowed to sip on Hennessy, something that people at the back stage described as ‘funny’.

"His manager came to the changing room and ordered that his artiste don’t go on stage until he is given a bottle of Hennessy to drink. I thought he was joking but I was surprised to see Kenny Sol refusing to perform,” said a source who was backstage.

"The funny thing is that he asked to let him perform after a few minutes but it was too late. Our artistes need to grow up but the problem is that their managers are supporting them in such behaviors. This must end seriously!”  said another source.

However,  the singer slammed the concert organisers for failing to honor his contract prompting his to decide against performing because he realized they were only looking to use him for their own gains.

In a statement released Sunday evening, Kenny Sol revealed that one of the event personnel tried to convince his manager into holding his phone as a collateral in attempt to have the singer on stage but in vain.

Sandra Teta’s battery case takes new twist

Sandra Teta’s battery case has taken a new twist with the office of Rwanda’s High Commission to Uganda now closely following up the socialite's case which was reportedly committed by her boyfriend Weasel Manizo, with whom they have two children.

This follows the former beauty queen’s public appearance "in good shape,” something social media users alleged to be a cover up for the abuse she faced days ago when a photo of her severely bruised face made rounds on social media in Uganda and Rwanda.

Reports in Uganda indicated that the incident left Teta fighting for her life when Manizo attacked the socialite at Nomads Bar in Bunga, together with their kids, and accused her of being negligent and cheating on him.

Joseph Rutabana, Rwanda’s high commissioner to Uganda last week told The New Times that his office met and spoke to Teta and her parents who are also in the country to check on their daughter.

Kate Bashabe denies being in relationship with Sadio Mane

There have been reports that Kate Bashabe has been in a relationship with Bayern Munich and Senegal forward Sadio Mane, the past few years.

The socialite’s trip to Anfield, home of Premier League side Liverpool, fueled the reports with some suggesting that she would travel to see Mane playing for his former club.

However, the socialite says people just try to make up stories about a relationship with the 2022 African Player of Year yet the two never discussed anything that has to do with love.

Clement and Knowless mark six-year wedding anniversary

The last six years of marriage between producer Clement Ishimwe and female musician Knowless has been quite a ride and the couple can’t stop enjoying the ride for the rest of their lives.

"@clementishimwe, Congratulations on successfully Tolerating Me For One More Year. Oooh Pleaaase…. Don’t be so happy. More is to come. Happy Wedding Anniversary to Us,” was the post Knowless made to thank Clement for what they achieved together, including two beautiful children.

A happy six-year wedding anniversary to them.
