Respect for everything

During the ancient days, Elisha a prophet of God went to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him.

"Go on up, you baldhead!” they said "Go on up you baldhead!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the bush and ate Forty –Two of the youths.

Putting ourselves in this position, how many of us would have survived these bears? When children become teenagers, they become disrespectful. Some disrespect their parents while others disregard other people in the society regardless of their age.

It has happened for generations that youths think they are wiser than their parents and elders whenever they are advised. On several occasions, we utter bad words at people even those who are strangers to us.

The youth mentioned above, were like any other youths today. Imagine what they earned for disrespect! What if bears would be put in schools as a disciplinary remedy, how many would of us wouldn’t be devoured by them because of disrespect!

Though this does not exist today, disrespect still has its short comings which hurt our lives. Many children have ended up on the streets, others have taken to drugs only to realize that it’s too late to turn back. Some youths have also lost their lives just because they never listened to elder’s advice.

There are still more ‘bears’ like HIV/AIDS, loss of self esteem, addiction to drugs, reduced life span disobedient young generations.

Watch out on that bear before it ruins your, respect costs nothing but earns us a lot.
