Many people have a tendency of thinking that the only way you make money is by working in big companies and big corporate firms. But the reality is, there are other areas that can be a great source of income.

The world is evolving and almost any area that you can think of can make a great source of income; some of these don’t even require you to have extra academic qualifications and only your creativity, hard-work and general knowledge is all you need to make money.

Here are different areas one can tap into in order to earn an income;

Content writing

A content writer is a professional who writes informative and engaging articles to help brands showcase their products. Content writers in Rwanda write on different subjects and get paid for doing so, you only need to be creative, have good creative ways to tell a story, know what makes good content, have great communication skills, and also have experience in writing.

Scriptwriter/ screenwriter

Scriptwriters and screenwriters are people who write scripts or prepare them for plays or movies for radios, televisions. Being a scriptwriter doesn’t really require a lot of things, you only need to have great communication and writing skills, fluency in different languages and also, if you are a reader, it is a bonus.

Translator, interpreter, voice-over recording

This is yet another job that many people view as one that can’t really be a source of income. But did you know you can use your voice to earn money? Many people need beautiful voices to use for advertisements, documentaries, and if you have amazing speaking skills you have a chance at this job. Also, you can translate copies from one language to another and earn money, and you can be an interpreter in meetings, in a church and still earn money.

There are a lot of translation gigs online that a person can earn from.

Bartender

A bartender is a person who formulates and serves alcoholic or soft drinks at a bar, usually in a licensed establishment. A lot of bartending jobs in Rwanda don’t really require having a degree; you only need to have experience in serving in bars and also a few lessons on how to mix cocktails. Working as a bartender can be an awesome job where you get to work while enjoying at the same time.

Babysitting

You might think that babysitting will earn you less money, but in reality, this is a side hustle that earns decent pay. Many families in Rwanda don’t want to have maids at home and prefer hiring a maid that works part time. To be a nanny, you only need to know how to take care of children, how to manage them, and how to entertain them and you are good to go.
