The national beach volleyball team head coach Christopher Mudahinyuka has said that his side is ready for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

The national beach volleyball team head coach Christopher Mudahinyuka has said that his side is ready for the upcoming Commonwealth Games that will get underway on July 28 through August 8 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Rwanda starts its campaign on July 30 against South Africa.

The duo of Olivier Ntagengwa and Venuste Gatsinzi will represent the country in the beach volleyball discipline.

"The boys are all doing well. The mood and confidence levels in camp are promising. We have had more time to prepare than in the previous years, we hope to do better this time round,” Mudahinyuka told Times Sport on Wednesday.

He added: "We know our opponents are stronger but we are ready for the challenge. Our aim is to get better results in every game we play.”

Rwanda were drawn in Group B alongside South Africa, Maldives and Australia.

After taking on South Africa, Rwanda will take on Maldives on August 1 and wrap up the Group stages with a clash against Australia on August 3.

This is the fourth time Rwanda has participated in Commonwealth games since it joined the organisation in 2009.

In 2018, Denyse Mutatsimpundu and Charlotte Nzayisenga represented Rwanda in the games that took place in Australia but they did not secure any medal.

Meanwhile, Rwanda will also have a team in cycling, swimming and athletics at the Common Wealth games.

Rwandan athletes that are going for the Common Wealth games are the following:

Athletics: Men: Yves Nimubona

Women: Claire Uwitonze, Celine Iranzi and Emeline Manizabayo

Cycling: Men: Eric Muhoza, Renus Byiza Uhiriwe, Samuel Mugisha, Moise Mugisha and Eric Manizabayo

Women: Josiane Mukashema, Jacqueline Tuyishime and Diane Ingabire.

Swimming: Eloi Maniraguha and Isiaka Iradukunda
