AFTER FOUR YEARS without taking place, ‘Kigali Up Fest’ is making its return on Kigali’s party calendar.

The music festival was last held in 2018 with Africa’s iconic musician, Alpha Blondy, as the main headliner of the festival alongside other local giants.

Since the festival’s inception in 2011, ‘Kigali Up’ has been credited as one of the best music festivals in Kigali that attracted big musicians like Ismael, Patoranking among others.

This year’s edition, according to Jacques Murigande aka Mighty Popo, the brains behind the event, will kick off on August 6, and attract only young creatives making rounds in Rwanda’s music industry.

The organiser, who is also head of Nyundo School of Arts and Music, said that this year’s edition will be headlined by mostly Nyundo school graduates who are already in the music industry of Rwanda, alongside hidden talents of the Muhanga-based school.

"The school has raised hundreds of musicians in the country and there is more in store that the world should see. With this edition, we hope that young hidden talents at the school will be showcased and get a platform to shine,” he said.

Murigande further urged other young creatives and upcoming artistes who want to showcase their talents to register and be part of the festival.

More information regarding this year’s edition of Kigali Up Fest will be communicated soon, he said.
