AS KIGALI Secretary-General Francis Gasana says he's confident the club will challenge for the title next season  and also perform well in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The City of Kigali sponsored side has so far signed three players that include; Eliassa Rucogoza from Bugesera FC, Jean Bosco Akayezu of Etincelles, Gilbert Dusingizimana from SC Kiyovu and are also in negotiations to renew the contract of Hussein Shabban Tchabalala.

"We are doing everything possible to ensure that AS Kigali writes history in Africa club competition. We want to break the culture of our clubs never progressing past the first or second round of Africa club competitions and we will also challenge on the domestic front,” Gasana said.

"One thing I’m certain about now is that everybody knows what a good team we are – not just in Rwanda but in the continent, so we are very proud of that,” Gasana told Times Sport.

AS Kigali won the Peace cup last month after defeating APR 1-0. That takes their triumph in the cup competition to four having won the same trophy in 2001, 2013, and 2019.
