The quality of what you produce is far much better than how long it will take you to complete the very task. Unfortunately in many scenarios; people tend to put much effort into when the job will be done.

In the working environment, experts believe that how someone pays attention or concentrates on a particular task they are assigned comes with set benefits.

Prince Aime Lionel Murara, the deputy national coordinator in charge of operations and partnership in Education for Nations and Humanitarian Africa (ENHA), says when you gear your attention towards completing your main goal or objective, then you are definitely assured of producing quality work in the end.

Benefits

Although it’s normal for people to worry much about when they will complete their assignments, staying committed to a task can be greatly beneficial in the workplace, leading to your professional success as well.

He notes that when you are into concentrating more on what you are doing, this will help in building momentum.

"Take an example of a given assignment, by your supervisor. When you take time to concentrate and ponder how you will finish it, the end product will for sure be of great efficiency,” he says.

According to Murara, this skill can also see someone believe in themselves knowing very well that they are capable of getting things done in an organised manner.

Jane Nakaayi, an educator at Riviera High School, says rather than rushing to complete an assignment, increase productivity.

She says, this also teaches one to pay attention to details. "When someone is rushing to complete an assignment because they are running with time, in the end, they might end up producing shoddy work. Meaning that they might be forced to redo the same task, which could lead to stress and tiredness.”

The educator hence points out that when a person takes caution when delivering, it saves them from unnecessary stress.

"This means that one is able to minimise any tension and pressure that’s built up. When you’re focused on a particular assignment, paying attention to details becomes easy,” she says.

Just like Murara, Othaniel Nimbabazi, a youth leader and human-centred designer, agrees that taking your time to focus than rushing to complete a task ensures one produces quality work.

He believes that the more time and concentration one is able to devote to one task, the greater the quality of work they will produce, "which means that the work will be free from errors,” he says.

Nimbabazi says that this also helps train one’s mind to be able to remain fused irrespective of the work one is handling at that particular moment.
