We have heard of different kinds of tea ranging from ginger milk or tea to lemon tea. I bet garlic milk is unfamiliar to many, given that people are used to taking garlic when prepared in meals.

However, nutritionists affirm that one should also consider making and taking garlic milk as this is a powerhouse of several medicinal properties.

In fact, studies indicate that garlic milk contains natural painkilling properties and is great for painful conditions such as sciatica and arthritis.

This natural drink tones the digestive system and softens stools to relieve constipation.

It also, is a potent remedy for conditions like indigestion, acidity, and gas. Garlic has antiseptic properties as well, which makes it an excellent ingredient for improving the immunity system while eliminating toxins.

Joseph Uwiragiye, head of the nutrition department at University Teaching Hospital (CHUK) says just like any other tea, considering making garlic tea comes with health benefits including relieving bowel problems such as constipation and bloating resulting from an imbalance in the physiological and mental components.

He says that garlic milk also falls into the category of warm and smooth foods and therefore may help in the treatment and relief of various stomach issues. Another known benefit of garlic milk is its potential of preventing acne.

It is believed that one of the main reasons for the appearance of acne is the presence of a variety of bacteria, which proliferates when the glands inside the skin are blocked and that's why it creates an inflammatory response in the skin, which further results in the development of pimples.

He notes that studies indicate that garlic contains many sulfur compounds that prevent the proliferation of these harmful bacteria. Hence drinking garlic along with milk can boost garlic's ability to prevent acne.

Apart from this, calcium content found in milk is a significant contributor to bone health and body strengthening, two effects that make it easier to deal with problems such as arthritis.

It has also been established that garlic milk helps keep off heart diseases.

Heart health is one of the most important health concerns for all, and without the proper functioning of this huge pump, the body simply can't survive.

That's why, it's very important to know that the compound allicin, which presents in generous doses in garlic, has been proven in many studies as a sedative, relaxing, and preventing various heart diseases such as hyperglycemia.

Garlic milk recipe

Just like any other tea, garlic milk is easier to prepare, the first step is to take a pan and boil milk in it.

Once done, add 3-4 peeled garlic cloves to it and bring it to a boil again.

Afterward, add a pinch of black pepper with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder in it and stir well (optional for those who need more spices).

Bring it to a boil once again and turn off the flame. When the milk is warm enough, strain in a cup and mix 1/2 tbsp honey in it and drink it warm.
