The crowd at Kigali Car Free one’s Imbuga City Walk was full of excitement as French rapper La Fouine proved his worth with an electric performance during Saturday’s concert to conclude the AIC-MOCA festival in style.

The Moroccan-born celebrated rapper, who was performing for the first time in Kigali,  has already cemented his name among Rwandans as his rap music took over the Rwandan capital by storm in a concert that attracted hundreds of revelers across the country.

In a 30-minute performance that wrapped up the festival, La Fouine never disappointed at all and instead made sure that festival goers enjoy every single minute that he spent on the stage.

He showed up on stage at 11pm after performances from local artistes including Chris Hat, Okkama, Afrique, Ariel Wayz, Papa Cyangwe and Riderman with each showing what they do best while on stage.

American singer Vasti Jackson and local music duo Angell Mutoni and ‘Inana’ hitmaker Chris Eazy, were expected to perform on Sunday alongside Magic System but were later made to perform Saturday, after the Ivorian band canceled their performance for a reason that is yet to be communicated.

The artistes graced the stage back to back for about three hours,  since 8pm when concert host MC Kate Gustave introduced up and coming singer Chris Hat as the first curtain raiser for the show.

DJ Toxxyk was also on the other side spinning the best music from his playlist to keep festival goers entertained.

When La Fouine showed up on stage, the hype and atmosphere at the venue was unmatched as hundreds welcomed him singing his name over and over.

La Fouine is a believer of Christ and therefore had to pray before his performance. His French vibes brought up a different taste of music among revelers.

Clad in white jeans and black t-shirt, the musician was flanked by DJ Skorp, his official DJ who ruled his playlist till the last minute of his entire playback performance.

From the beginning, the rapper promised that he was going to give his audience good music to make their evening worthwhile.

"Kigali, you are going to spend a fantastic night with Fouiny Baby [his nickname],” He said. And he never lets his audience down.

‘Du Ferme’, ‘On Va Faire Comme Ton Pere’ (ft Krav Maga), ‘Ca Fait Mal’ and ‘Tous Les Même’ were among the songs that the rapper used to own the stage while also taking an occasion to interact with his fans in a fun-filled conversation.  He was full of praise for President Paul Kagame and the City of Kigali for having him perform in an ‘incredible city’.

He was later joined on stage by American singer Vasti Jackson who played guitar for the rapper to sing ‘No Woman no Cry’, a song by late music legend Bob Marley.

His all-time hit ‘Ma Meilleure’, a collaboration with Algerian-Canadian Zaho, was La Fouine’s last dance and to the music lovers who waited to see him perform it for so long. It was the last gift the rapper gave them to wrap up the party.

The show ended at 11.30pm.
