Phase two of the 2009 National Volleyball League gets underway today at seven venues in different parts of the country.

The men’s league defending champions APR want a clean sweep after drawing minors CXR, KIE and ISAE in Pool A. The games will be played at Camp Kigali.

Pool B games will be played at Club Rafiki, Gisenyi College will host Pool C games while St. Joseph Kabgayi hope to make the most of their home court advantage when they host GSOB and Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in Pool D.

Rwanda National University (UNR) and Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) should also easily progress to the semi-finals after landing fairly easy ties.

KVC are seeded in Pool B alongside Petit Seminaire de Butare (PSB) and debutants (UNATEK and Umutara Polytechnique).

UNR on the other hand fall in Pool C together with secondary school sides Gisenyi College and Lycee de Nyanza. Games in the women league will be played at Fawe, KIST and UNR.

APR were double winners in the opening phase. Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye’s side silenced arch-rivals KVC 3-0 in the men’s final while Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) fell to APR in straight sets in the ladies’ final.
