AFTER winning the hearts of many music lovers with a number of hits that are still topping different online streaming platforms, Christian Rukundo Nsengimana, also known as Chriss Eazy, has decided to join the fashion industry after showcasing his first collection dubbed ‘Ewuana’ that appeared in a recently released track.

Nsengimana who is a member of Giti Management Label, home to different young musicians making afro-beat, joins the fashion industry a year after he dropped his first single ‘Fasta’, that was his breakthrough.

Speaking to The New Times, the ‘Amashu’ hit-maker says that owning a fashion brand has always been his dream since he started making music, and with the help of Incabure Fashion House, he managed to secure a place in the industry, a move he believes will not only contribute to the rise of fashion, but also music.

He further says that his brand is just the beginning of many other creative things that he is planning to invest in Rwanda’s creative industry. The celebrated artiste is already among the best video directors in the country.

"Ewuana is my new brand of shorts, skirts, dresses, t-shirts, hoodies and jackets,” says the artiste, adding that the logo was inspired by a scar on his face that he got in an accident years ago.

The 21-year-old musician also notes that the clothes are already available online, adding that he is planning to open shop in Kigali before the end of the year.

Asked about the meaning of ‘Ewuana’, Nsengimana says that it is slang used by the youth to show they are interested or convinced, adding that he made it the brand’s name to appeal to the youth to buy his collection.

Nsengimana is an afro-beat, hip-hop artiste on the rise with a number of hits like ‘Amashu’, ‘Fasta’ and ‘Umwana’ which premiered 10 days ago and has almost one million views on YouTube.
