Rumasha to release new EP ‘Big Deal’

OSTRICH Rumasha, a rising Rwandan musician is set to release his first Extended Playlist dubbed ‘Big Deal’ on June 20.

Born Jean Bosco Mugabowintwari, the rising rapper’s passion started in 2010 but became a professional artiste in 2021.

Talking to The New Times, Rumasha says that he is excited to share his first extended playlist that he has been working on since starting his music career.

"The motive for making this EP came from the fact that I wanted to give different messages at the same time, but I couldn’t do it in just one song so I thought why not make an EP. As an artiste, I don’t want my fans to wait for one song after another,” says Rumasha.

He says that he won a music competition dubbed ‘My Rap Journal’ last year in August and that got him a management team which, unfortunately, later rejected him before the contract was over.

"Most of the songs in my EP are about my management calling it quits after producing only one out of the three songs we are agreed on in the contract. They were supposed to work with me for three years, however, they quit before a year could even end, saying that music is expensive and that it was tough for them to manage marketing and production since they didn’t have a studio,” Rumasha says.

After that disappointment from his management team, Rumasha expressed his pain and sorrow through this EP and made a song about his story.

"My EP also advises those who play with the talent of upcoming artistes and waste their time, to stop messing with their talent but instead help them grow. Upcoming artistes go through so much, like depression, but we get through it,” he says sadly.

‘Big Deal’ consists of five songs with two bonus tracks. The track list includes ‘Agaseke’, ‘Hassala’, ‘Bisaba Cash’ and ‘Jessica’. The bonus tracks are ‘Property’ and ‘Icyamamare’.

The EP was produced by different Rwandan producers like Santana, Bob Pro, Lazer Beats, C’est Pro David and Tyra Beats.

Rumasha has since been managing himself under the label ‘Homeless Music Entertainment’, however, he is open to whoever is willing to help.
