Juicing has never been simpler, with this ABC formula that famous for weight loss, skin health and other benefits. Merely an acronym for apple, beetroot and carrot, ABC is a popular detoxification drink that has become the favourite of many fitness enthusiasts. 

The combination of these three powerful fruits is said to have been introduced by nutritionists for lung cancer treatment, among other ailments. Termed as a miraculous health drink, ABC juice has several great benefits to the body and overall well-being. 

According to Eric Matsiko, a lecturer in the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Rwanda, the combination of these great fruits in a juice delivers quick results. 

"Carrots are rich in vitamin A, which is an important nutrient for vision, apples are rich in fibre and antioxidants, which are chemical compounds that protect the cells. Beetroot helps in digestion, cleansing the lungs, and reducing the risks chronic diseases,” he says

Matsiko says that the drink has many nutrients, including folic acid, potassium, and vitamins A, E and C. 

Experts say that the juice can help lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, prevent anaemia and promote skin health due to the aforementioned vitamins present. 

"ABC juice can help monitor blood flow, due to the folic acid and fibre contained, reduce the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, lung diseases and heart disease,” Matsiko says. 

Matsiko also says that all the fruits that make up ABC juice have a common property of having fibre that can be beneficial in terms of protecting our bodies, reducing risks of chronic diseases and heart diseases. 

It is advised to use fresh fruits as you prepare ABC juice to avoid other complications and, you can add this to your table meal, at least three times a week, to allow a greater impact and deliver quick results. Use the same portion to each fruit, to allow balance of the fruits, blend them together to make the juice.
