University of Kigali (UoK) has received full accreditation from KASNEB, as an approved tuition center for professional courses which include Certified Investment & Financial Analyst (CIFA), Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Accounting Technician Diploma (ATD), Certificate in Accounting & Management Skills (CAMs), Vocational Certificate in Blockchain Technology (VCBT), Vocational Certificate in Information & Cyber Security (VCICS), Vocational Certificate in Graphic Design (VCGD) and Vocational Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Innovation (VCEI).

The accreditation was issued on Friday 3rd June, 2022 by the CEO of KASNEB, Dr. FCPA. Nicholas Letting at Park Inn Radisson, Kigali. The KASNEB accreditation adds to the ICPAR accreditation that UoK received in April, 2022.

UoK’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Rugimbana, in appreciating the visit by the KASNEB CEO to UoK a day before the accreditation stated that the accreditation is very important because it affirms and recognizes the contribution that UoK is making towards the provision of professional accountancy, finance, banking and procurement training not only to UoK students but also the citizens of Rwanda.

Speaking on the accreditation of UoK, Charles Omanyo, the Director, School of Professional and Executive Programs at the university said the accreditation will enhance the status of the university in providing quality professional accountancy qualifications. Students will also have confidence that they are pursuing their professional courses with an accredited tuition provider. The accreditation by KASNEB validates the programs we are offering and certifies us to be leaders in the provision of professional courses. 

Apart from the approved KASNEB professional courses, UoK through the School of Professional and Executive Programs (SPEP) also offers CPAR, ACCA, CAT-R, FIAs and CIA.

There is a shortage of over 5000 Professionally-qualified Accountants in the Public Sector in Rwanda and UoK is committed to ensuring that this deficit is bridged. Consequently, the university offers free tuition in CPA to its undergraduate and graduate students.
