Long ago, there live two brothers. One was called Cain and another Abel. Cain was the elder brother of Abel. Their father was Adam and their mother Eve. Adam and Eve were the first people to live on the earth.

In Genesis chapter 4, the Bible says that Cain was a farmer while Abel a shepherd. A shepherd is someone who looks after sheep.

One day Cain and Abel had to bring gifts to God, this was just to thank Him for the great things he had done for them. They built an altar for a sacrifice. A sacrifice is when you give something you like most to God.

Cain brought some of the fruits he had grown like fruits while Abel brought fat portions from some of the first born of his flock. When Cain brought his gift, his heart was not right with God because he was not honest.

So God was very happy with Abel’s gift and not pleased with Cain’s. When Cain saw this he was jealous and he planned to kill Abel. He later killed his brother in the fields because he was so jealous. Cain was then punished by God and from that day, he became a wanderer.

Father God requests us children to be our brother’s keepers by taking care of one another. Killing is very bad because it keeps us far from God and other people.
