An East African business delegation, led by Rwanda’s Minister of Commerce, Monique Nsanzabaganwa, arrived in Canada yesterday, in search of partners to invest in the regional bloc.

Members of the delegation include ministers and high-level experts from Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, as well as the EAC Secretary General, Juma Mwapachu.

According to the Rwandan Minister for East African Affairs, Monique Mukaruliza, the delegation will meet the Canadian business community and politicians.

"The delegation will be exhibiting the investment opportunities in the bloc and its potentiality and also informing Canadians about EAC and its operations,” said Mukaruliza. She added that part of the delegation is made up of both representatives of public and private sector.

"By the end of this visit, we expect more Canadian investors coming to this region as well as their government supporting different activities in the region,” remarked Mukaruliza.

Several meeting are expected to be held in Canadian cities of Toronto and Montreal.

According to media reports, the delegation is expected to address several conferences and this will also be an opportunity to identify partners to invest in the sectors of tourism, mining, energy, financial services, ICT and infrastructure.

The delegation is expected to will present that unique market of 120 million inhabitants, with a potential of an estimated 30 billion US dollars.

The theme of the events that will be conducted by the delegation is "Trade and Investment Opportunities: East Africa - One Market, One Destination”.
