I refer to the letter by Mr Emmanuel Hategeka, the Executive Secretary of the Private Sector Federation (PSF), in response to Mr. Mansur Kakimba’s article published in The New Times, titled; "Senate PSF table flaw in PPP framework.”

Mr Kakimba is not in anyway contracted by The New Times, as suggested in the response letter, by Mr Hategeka. He is a contributor like many readers of our newspaper are.

We published the article in good faith as we do with all our external contributors. If Mr Kakimba as an employee of the PSF breached confidentiality rules, that is a matter between him and his employer.

Indeed he has paid the price, since he has just been fired by the PSF, precisely on the basis of the article. The article was his initiative and we, as a publication, totally repudiate any suggestion of our implicit involvement.
