AS THE WORLD OF MEDIA keeps evolving, many are now opting for podcasts to get updated on what's happening worldwide. One could say we live in a podcast world, and it is immensely growing its audience. There are many podcasts out there with different kinds of information in all departments and fields. All you have to do is just press play.

That trend is also taking place in Rwanda day by day as the media keeps growing. Here are the top local podcasts you need to start listening to now, in no particular order. 

Goal'd in Africa

This is a podcast by Sarah Murungi. This podcast is a platform that enlightens the listeners with the struggles of navigating success as young Africans and tips from professionals all over Africa on how to do it. It is found on Listen Notes, and new episodes are posted every Tuesday. 

The Masozera Africa Podcast 

This one is produced by Isabelle Masozera, who is also the proprietor of Masozera Africa. It features a variety of themes moderated by numerous hosts. The first being that  The Holistic Connection podcast is a self-led health podcast that features Isabelle Masozera and Myla Masozera Musiime, mother and daughter, as they open up about highly personal experiences in their lives and take the audience on their way to recovery. The Big Sister Series is a thought-provoking podcast in which Prim Nyonyozi, a content creator and influencer, discusses personal experiences in her life. Masozera Africa has the podcasts available.

Rwanda check-in

This is a weekly podcast created by The New Times Rwanda and is the first of the podcasts made by Rwandan news organisations. It is moderated by Jade Natacha Iriza. The major goal of the podcast is to attract and engage new audiences, particularly young people. On issues that are important to them and their peers, and to bring young people's views into the mainstream of public dialogue. It aims to broaden young people's thoughts and perspectives on current events and other significant topics, such as Rwandan culture and modern ways of living, as well as the inconsistencies and debates that these two have frequently sparked.

Everyday Weird with Nicky Alonga

Every now and then, you might sit down and ponder various parts of life, or you might find yourself in a scenario and wonder whether you're the only one going through it. Everyday Weird is the podcast you should be listening to; Dominique Alonga, the podcast's host, ensures that you are aware of the challenges and joys of adulting in an African context; she believes that there are many different perspectives that we all have, and her hope is to create a space where we can all share and learn from one another. For her, the podcast serves as a public journal in which she may process and notice various thoughts, as well as learn and grow from them. Everyday Weird is a safe haven for genuineness, where you may openly discuss what works and what doesn't. The podcast's main topics include money, relationships, and mental health. Madamu Samake

This is a fun, young adult podcast by Portia Uwase, a.k.a. Madamu Samake. It's a podcast about anything and everything that interests the host-it's a space she uses to explore curiosities on a deeper level. Portia explained that the fans make the podcast sound like comedy because they send hilarious letters since it is made to sound like a kitchen talk ambiance, and that can be funny. The podcast dives into different scenarios that young people go through, daily trends, gossip, what's up in showbiz, and many more. This is one podcast to hear on a hot weekend. 6 in the eve

Sometimes you need a place where you can have all the room you need to conduct meaningful conversations, where you can feel heard, try to solve problems, and be creative. The core goal of 6 in the eve, a podcast that works in tandem with a website and social media outlets, is to start and drive dialogues about themes that are important to the nation's heartbeat. 6 in the eve is a type of talk that you can have with coworkers and friends; you can agree to disagree or be on the same page! It is posted weekly on 6intheeve.com and hosted by Cynthia Umurungi, a.k.a. Ginty. 

Lady Irma Podcast "Life Lessons"

Lady Irma "Life Lessons" is a sound and very calm podcast done by Irma Ihumure, The podcast provides inspirational messages for different situations we go through in our daily life, and if you are looking for some healing, this is the right podcast for you. The podcast is found on Spotify, Google Podcasts, and many other platforms.

The Light podcast

This is a podcast hosted by Elnaam Umutoni. In the podcast, Umutoni and her co-host Isaro Marie Reine Kellia talk about different experiences as Christians, including Jesus and mental health. The Light podcast is made up of authentic conversations, and they occasionally welcome guests to discuss a variety of topics. You could be the next guest and share your experience! The Talking Podcast

This is the fastest-growing podcast in Rwanda with USD 5000 raised in funding. It is a diverse talking platform that connects people and their community through inclusive and informative discussions carried out as interviews. This podcast is mainly focused on entrepreneurship-based content by hosting various industry experts, both local and international established entrepreneurs, to provide first-hand entrepreneurship information and knowledge to Africa’s aspiring entrepreneurs. it is hosted by David Mubita of Zambia, an International Business, and Trade student at The African Leadership University, in Rwanda. it has both a video and audio version on Youtube and Spotify.
