Meddy nominated for Best East African Artiste award

RWANDA’S R&B MUSIC STAR Medard Ngabo popularly known as Meddy has been nominated in the category of Best East African Artiste of the Year alongside East Africa’s music giants Eddy Kenzo, Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, for the upcoming ‘The Headies Awards’.

The 15th edition of popular Nigerian music awards this year, is scheduled for September 4, in Atlanta, USA.

The awards, which started back in 2006, aim at recognising African talent in the creative art industry that have excelled in changing African society through art.

The Headies awards has 36 categories including Hall of Fame award, which has only one nominee legendary female musician Angelique Kidjo, Best International Act that features renowned musicians Akon, Haitian born producer and singer Wycliffe Jean and top rapper P. Diddy.

Other categories include Best East African Artiste of the Year which features Rwanda's Meddy, Next Rated, Best Street Hip hop Artiste, Lyricist on the Roll, Producer of the Year, Album of the Year, Hip hop album, R&B album and Song of the Year.

The list also includes African Artiste recognition, song of the year, Best Alternative Song, Best Recording of the Year, Special Recognition Award, Best Music Executive of the Year, Rookie of the Year and the Best Album of the year.

It also features Hip Hop World Revelation of the Year and Viewer’s Choice Award, Humanitarian award, Best Reggae and Dancehall Album and African Artist of the Year among many others.

Nigerian musicians like Davido, Wizkid, Ruger, Gold, Tems Tiwa, Burna Boy, Ladipoe, Olamide feature in most categories with the likes of Eddy and Diamond Platnumz.

Wizkid, 2Baba, Fireboy and Davido are among the music stars that won the Headies Awards in previous years.
