Local cycling federation (Ferwacy) is awaiting who, between Abdallah Murenzi and Thierry Rwabusaza, will become the next president of the federation for the next four years.

The Federation will elect a new executive committee on May 28.

Rwabusaza, who is currently a member of Club Les Amis Sportifs, has previously served as the Secretary General of Ferwacy. 

Murenzi inherited the federation on an interim role until his term expired in March this year. The former Mayor of Nyanza District is not new in the sports industry having previously been in club administration as Rayon Sports president during the club’s 2012/13 league title-winning campaign.

Murenzi also headed the ‘normalization’ interim committee for a period of 30 days in 2020 after Rayon Sports  Executive committee, led by Sadate Munyakazi, was dismissed by Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) to end controversies that surrounded the club’s management.
