Rwanda’s quest to qualify to Group II of the Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone looks over after failure to win the first round robin matches in Instabul, Turkey.

Rwanda team led by Dieudonne Habiyambere, Olivier Nkunda, Mathew Uwizeyimana and Ronald Mataba lost to hosts Turkey, Madagascar and Greece respectively in the first round-robin matches.

In the match played on Friday, Dieu Dieudonne Habiyambere lost to Greece’s Dimitrios Kleftakos 6-1, 6-1 and Konstantinos Economidis 6-0, 6-0 respectively while Olivier Nkunda lost to Alexander Jakupovic 6-1, 6-1.

Hosts Turkey lead group B standings with three points after winning three matches, Greece is second with two points, Madagascar is third with one point while Rwanda lies bottom with no point.

In Group A, Estonia lead the standings with three points, Luxembourg second with two points, Iceland third with one point while Botswana is placed bottom of the standings without a point.
