Sports Genix International (SGI), in conjunction with the Japanese Karate Association (JKA-Rwanda), has joined Rwanda in commemorating the Genocide against the Tutsi for the 28th time.

The Genocide claimed over one million lives during a spell of only 100 days between April and July, 1994.

Established by former Rwanda karate international Guy Rurangayire, SGI urges citizens to fight against bad ideologies like divisionism, ethnicity and segregation.

"SGI and JKA Rwanda stand with all the Rwandans as we remember for the 28th time the Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda. May we have a healing that stands on all our Rwandan values and fight whoever and whatever would create a spirit of division among us,” SGI tweeted on Thursday.

Sports Genix International is a Kigali-based multidiscipline sports academy that trains youngsters aged between 4 and 17 in karate, football and basketball.

The academy launched with 90 children, girls and boys, in January.
