FEATURED: DStv introduces new pop-up channel on Kwibuka 28

As friends around the world mourn the lives as Rwandans get ready for the 28th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi (Kwibuka 28), pay-TV service provider, DStv has announced a new pop-up channel that will help the country and friends mourn the lives of the over million people who died in the 100-day massacre.

The pop-up channel which will go live on April 7, will highlight the impact of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi on the Rwandan society, and the subsequent process of reconciliation and healing.

The inspirational and informative channel is set to launch on Thursday and will be available for seven days, until April 13.

Local television channel, TV10 is the designated Kwibuka 28 special commemoration pop-up channel available on DStv channel 197.

According to the firm, during the 28th commemoration, the channel will broadcast a series of exclusive live events and talks-shows, with a daily kids block, inspiring testimonials, as well as curated youth programming and special reports.

The channel will also spotlight Rwanda’s resolute spirit to Remember-Unite-Renew and programming will run 24 hours a day.

Shows to be broadcasted

According to DStv, KWIBUKA 28 will broadcast four shows, including "Kids: Junior React”, a show where the younger generation share their perspective of the impact of the Genocide and give a view of their aspirations for a united and renewed Rwanda.

Then, there will be the "Then and Now (LIVE) Talk-show” which will be hosted by Eric Utuje and serve as a platform for guests to discuss a variety of informative social, economic and political topics related to the Genocide.

The third show "Features: Testimonies” will be a platform where Genocide survivors will share their inspirational stories of healing, reconciliation, courage and hope while the fourth show "The LinkUp 28” will act as a blend of talks, music, and interactive segments with Rwandan superstars as special guests who will share their views and perspectives on Genocide curated daily topics.

This is a premiere in the world where an international media such as DSTv has decided to dedicate a full channel to the genocide against Tutsis.
