While the past week was fairly eventful in terms of diplomacy, residents of Kigali City also made sure to enjoy themselves over the weekend in different events.

On Wednesday, March 23, President Paul Kagame arrived in Aqaba, Jordan where he was welcomed by His Majesty Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, where he also attended the Aqaba Process Meeting on East Africa.

President Kagame later travelled to Cairo, Egypt on March 26 for an official visit during which he had a tête-à-tête with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi who had welcomed him.

In other news, Martine Urujeni was elected the Vice Mayor in charge of Socio-Economic Affairs in the City of Kigali in a by-election election held on March 25, replacing Nadine Umutoni Gatsinzi, who was last year appointed as the Director General of the National Child Development Agency.

Then on March 26, the Medical Students Association of Rwanda (MEDSAR) celebrated their silver jubilee, dedicating the milestone towards raising awareness around Non Communicable Diseases (NDCs).

On March 27, the Rwandan community in Mozambique conducted a community work- Umuganda, in one of Mozambican capital’s largest suburbs, Municipal da Cidade da Matola.

In sports, hundreds turned up for the 2022 Kigali Night Run, while on Saturday, four-time champions Patriots Basketball Club beat REG Basketball Club at the Kigali Arena.

In the world of entertainment, among other events, Nigerian superstar Timaya thrilled show goers on Friday at Canal Olympia while hundreds others had gathered at Imbuga City Walk to attend a music festival that saw multiple choirs perform in an open air concert.

The week also saw the First Lady, Jeannette Kagame, attend the book launch of Collège St Albert of Bujumbura, at the Kigali Convention Centre. The school was very instrumental in teaching Rwandan refugees in Burundi.
