Rwanda should be on everyone’s must-visit list, says local author

Rwandan author Alain Abraham Nsengiyumva has published a book talking about Rwanda and why one should visit the country.

After Rwanda invested highly in the ‘Visit Rwanda’, Nsengiyumva got inspired. As a Rwandan student in China, he decided to write about his beautiful country, and how it attracts tourists from all over the world.

"When I arrived in China in 2018, I discovered that people here do not know a lot about Rwanda, yet they were very interested, wanting to know places to go, investment opportunities in Rwanda, and much more,” says Nsengiyumva. "All this inspired me to write a book about my country Rwanda with the aim of showing the world, especially Chinese people, that Rwanda is one of Africa’s leading tourism destinations.”

In the book, the author mentions some of Rwanda’s many destinations and different tourist attractions, including Ibyiwacu Cultural Village, Canopy Walkway, horse-riding at Mount Kigali, hiking, and many more.

Nsengiyumva, who sees this as the start of his journey as an author, started writing the book in January this year. While the first edition was released on March 11, he is currently working on the second edition, which will be released soon.

"The second edition will show Rwanda as a MICE destination (Meeting, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Exhibitions) and investment hub,” says Nsengiyumva.

Asked what inspired him to write the book, the author says that since 2021 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Rwanda and China, the thought of writing a book to more than 1.4 billion citizens in China will contribute a lot to the two countries’ relationship, especial in the tourism and investment sector. The book is written in two languages, English and Mandarin.

Nsengiyumva says that his biggest challenge was how expensive it is to work with publishing companies, but he still managed to do it on his own.

The author expresses his gratitude to professional photographers and different people who worked with him, namely; Plaisir Muzogeye, Promesse Kamanda, Adam Ndayizigiye, and many more.

Nsengiyumva is a 24-year-old student currently studying international trade and economics in Hunan Province, China. He also owns "Ici c’est Kigali”, a clothing brand based in Rwanda, China and other countries.
