COMEDY KNIGHTS STARS, John Naifa Muyenzi, commonly known as Babou, Michael Sengazi, Prince, Joshua, George, Joseph and Fally Merci are set to perform in a new show named "Curfew Lifted, Jokes Aside” which will take place at ELIKAPEKA, Kiyovu, on March 12.

The event follows a statement issued by the Office of Prime Minister on cabinet resolutions as of March 4 ,where for the first time since the outbreak of Covid-19, the government of Rwanda lifted curfew.

According to Babou, CEO of Comedy Knights, the event was organised to celebrate the curfew being lifted and to respond to comedy lovers who miss stand-up comedy shows.

He revealed that they aim to make the event recur weekly on Saturdays, adding that different comedians will be performing splendid jokes in English, Kinyarwanda or French.

"We are planning for a huge event in May,” he continued. "We want to start with small shows in Kigali and the countryside.”

People who wish to attend the event should expect a lot of fun and comedy experience, according to Babou.

"We have been developing content throughout this Covid-19 period. Art is like a mirror to society and comedy is the same. We are going to be talking about the challenges we faced, how we managed to overcome Covid-19 lockdown, how our country took it differently and how we adapted. We are going to put all those aspects into consideration,” he said.

"People should expect to have fun, listen to good jokes that are relatable to our lives.”

Babou also specified that the entrance fee is free, declaring that the arrangement will run for two to three weeks for people to first embrace the show and later when the event organisers set entrance fee, people will be supporting something they already know.

According to him, the attendees will be asked to present vaccination certificates and negative covid-19 test results.

"There are going to be limited seats,” he told The New Times. "So, first come, first serve. People can book their tickets by writing to us on our social media.”
