The Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB)-Ferwafa coaching course for Rwandan referees starts today in different Provinces of the country, the local football body has confirmed.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Ferwafa president, Brig. Gen. John Bosco Kazura said that the DFB in cooperation with Ferwafa have initiated the coaching course for all coaches in the country.
"Five professional coaches from will initiate and train al local football coaches in the country on all aspects concerning football sport,” Gen Kazura noted.
He added, "With the help of five local coaches who underwent training in early this year, the DFB coaches will pass the skills to 375 national coaches.”
Kazura further added that this is one of the many grants that Ferwafa is receiving from the football body aimed at developing football standards from the grass roots levels to an outstanding level.
The five professional coaches have been in the country for the past one month and they are expected to train the local based coaches for a period of three months.
The DFB coaches include; Aloys Stroh, Ernst Effers, Aundreas Spier, Nicolas Adam and Michael Geugelbach.
Both Stroh and Adam have the professional highest level of coaching while the rest have the A coaching licence.
The Ferwafa Technical Director, Michael Weiss who is also the chief coordinator of the coaching course said, "The local coaches will be trained with the basic skills and the course will climax with the selection of potentially and skilled coaches who will undergo further training in ,”
Weiss added that the main target is to develop both girls and boys in the sport as well as better coaches who will propel the country to the next level of football.
"Improving the coaching level in the country will ensure everything to become more professional,”
He also added that the Ministry of Youth, culture and Sport and Ferwafa have to set up a monitoring system of monitoring young talents in the region.
Local coaches who will help the DFB coaches in passing the skills include; Vincent Mashami, innocent Nsabinka, Theoneste Ndugusaba, Hassan Muhire, Sosteine Habineza and Aloys Kanamugire.
