Basketball: Rwanda to face Egypt in warm-up match

Tuesday Rwanda vs Egypt 2pm Kigali Time

The national basketball team will take on Egypt in a warm-up match later today as part of its preparations for the upcoming FIBA World Cup qualifiers that get underway on February 25 through 27.

The match will take place at Maruis Ndiaye Stadium in Dakar, Senegal where the team is camping currently, as they wait for the qualifier action to tipoff.

Speaking about the friendly game, Cheikh Sarr, the head coach of the Rwanda national basketball team said it will provide him with ideas about areas to improve before playing the qualifiers.

"Playing them (Egypt) will give us an idea about team chemistry and what to improved or reinforce” he said.

In the qualifiers, the national team was placed in Group B of the qualifiers along with Cameroon, South Sudan and reigning African champions Tunisia.

When the FIBA World Cup qualifiers showpiece kicks off, Rwanda’s first match will be against South Sudan on February 25.

In the second game, Rwanda will take on Cameroun on February 26, and will wind up their matches against Tunisia on February 27.
