Thursday, February 03, 2022

Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has released new guidelines to be followed by concert organisers and night club managers during this period when Rwanda and the world are still grappling with the Covid-19 pandemic.

This follows the recent guidelines that night clubs and concerts shall resume, okayed by the cabinet meeting that convened on January 26.

According to the communique issued by RDB, all attendants of live bands, concerts, night clubs, cinema halls and other recreational activities must present a negative Covid-19 certificate taken within 72 hours and must be fully vaccinated.

In addition to that, all night club staff should be tested for Covid-19 every 14 days and fully vaccinated as eligible staff get the booster shot.

"Concerts will resume gradually, sell tickets electronically but should be held at 75 percent capacity. Organisers should request permission from Rwanda Convention Bureau ten days before the event,” read the statement in part.

In addition, approved night clubs should operate at 50 percent capacity, within permitted business operating hours, according to the communique whereas cinema halls and movie theatres will not exceed 75 percent of their venue capacity.

Entertainment venues have also been urged to verify the authenticity of the Covid-19 tests and certificates, as RDB plans to issue penalties to non-complying establishments.
