APR maintain unbeaten run as Marine shock Kiyovu

APR FC recovered from a first half scare to defeat Police by two goals to one in the Rwanda premier league week on Friday, January 28, 2022.

 

The crunch game started brightly with each of the teams threading cautiously as they took time to settle into the crunch encounter.

 

It was Police FC who looked dangerous from the early early stages of the game with most of their attacks being initiated from the left side of the pitch.

 

The incessant pressure put on APR yielded dividends in the 40th minute when marauding Patrick Sibomana beat his marker beautifully on the left wing before whipping in an incisive cross around the 18-yard box in which central defender Aimable Nsabimana headed into his own net.

 

Police FC ended the first department of the game on top with a 1-0 scoreline.

 

The second half saw APR lifting up their game as they bombarded the Police FC vital area looking for the equalizer. Aimable Nsabimana had the simplest task of bundling the ball into the Police FC net for the equalizer after a flick inside the box ub the 57th minute.

 

APR skipper Yannick Bizimana netted what proved to be the match winner in the 60th minute  with a superb as his side maintained their unbeaten run in the league

 

Elsewhere at the Umuganda Stadium, a sixth minute goal by Mugiraneza Fladouard was all that Marines FC needed to defeat title hopefuls Kiyovu Sports by a lone goal to nothing.

 

Also in Rusizi relegation threatened Gorilla FC made a giant statement by going away to defeat Espoir by two goals to nothing.
