Prince Ampong, a Ghana-born holding midfielder, joined Rwandan side Etoile de l'Est last September.

Etoile de l'Est holding midfielder Prince Ampong has started training after successfully undergoing surgery for a Meniscus injury on December 26, 2021.

Ampong, who was signed by the topflight league’s newcomers last September, was battling to be fit but he is now ‘very well’ following the surgery and has joined his teammates on the field.

"I am fully fit now and I started training this week. Everything is going on very well and I am happy that finally I am back," Ampong told Times Sport.

He added: "Hopefully in a week or two I will be able to feature in the league. I am ready to give my best for the club as the season progresses.”

Ampong previously featured for now-defunct Ghanaian second tier side Amidaus FC and also had stints in Swaziland.

Before joining Etoile, he was on the verge of signing for SC Kiyovu, another Rwandan side, after passing the trials with the club but the deal collapsed at the last minute.
