Basketball: IPRC South’s Mushumba appointed national team assistant coach

IPRC-South Basketball head coach Charles Mushumba has been appointed the assistant coach of the national team.

He replaces Henry Mwinuka who had served in the position since 2020.

Mwinuka also had a stint as the interim head coach of the national team early last year after Serbian coach Vladimir Bosnyak threw in the towel.

Mushumba will work under Cheikh Sarr, the Senegalese tactician who is the head coach of the team.

He comes into the position at a time when the national team is gearing up for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers that are due in February.

Mushumba played basketball for the National University of Rwanda (NUR) in 1997. In 2002 he became the head coach for both the university’s men and women hoops teams.
