Friday, January 07, 2022

The last transfer window in the Rwanda Premier League saw clubs signing lots of players as they seek to beef up the various departments on the field of play.

Some of the players signed have been excellent so far whereas others have also flopped badly.

With eleven games played so far,  Tines Sports takes a look at the best five signings in the Rwanda Premier League.

1- Willy Andre Onana (Rayon Sports)

The Cameroonian forward who was signed by Rayon Sports in October last year has been arguably the best player in the Rwandan Premier League this season. He has banged in five goals this campaign and has shown real quality in all the games he has played.

Onana has been used in all attacking positions upfront and he has really excelled. Lots will depend on him if Rayon Sports are to realize their dream if winning the league title after they last lifted the trophy during the 2018/2019 season.

2- Ben Ocen (Musanze FC)

The gangling centre-forward joined Musanze FC from Ugandan outfit FC Police in September 2021 and gas quickly established himself as one of the potent attackers in the Rwandan Premier League this season. He has netted five goals for his club so far and remains key in their quest to at least finish in the top four positions.

3-Peter Agblevor (Etoile)

The story of the young Ghanaian striker is one of a fairy tale. Before joining Etoile de l'est in October last year, he was playing for a modest Ghanaian third league club called  Soccer Intellectuals in the coastal town of Winneba.

He landed in Rwanda in September and had trials with Rayon Sports but then coach Juma Masudi thought he was not good enough and made him to leave. Agblevor went to Etoile and was signed. He has since then been a revelation in the Rwandan league netting four goals already in his maiden campaign which includes a brace against champions APR FC.

4-Samuel Chukwudi Nwosu (Etoile)

Etoile signed him from Rutsiro FC and he has been very instrumental to their fortunes in their Premier League campaign.

Just like his striking partner Peter Agblevor, Nwosu has also netted four goals this season in the league. Etoile are just above the relegation zone but they are the only team in the league with their two strikers netting four goals each.

5-Rharb Youssef (Rayon Sports)

Rayon acquired Rharb on loan from Raja Casablanca as part of their partnership with the Moroccan giants and he has been exciting so far.

A very crafty and skillful player who can operate as a number 10 and on the wings, he has assisted most of Rayon Sports goals and has also netted thrice on his own.

He has adapted so well to the league and is one of the players who can lead the "Blues" to the promise land.
