Friday, December 31, 2021

A few hours ahead of the new year of 2022, Rwanda National Police (RNP) has urged the public to celebrate it responsibly.

This is the second year Rwanda celebrates New Year since the outbreak of covid-19.

In the interview with The New Times, CP John Bosco Kabera advised the public to celebrate responsibly while complying with all Covid-19 measures.

"Don’t flout all measures against the spread of covid-19, curfew hour and avoid drink while driving,” he said

Commenting on the preparation to ensure compliance during the new year evening he said that police are deployed to work with other security forces and members of the public to ensure the new year is celebrated by respecting Covid-19 prevention guidelines.

The warning is founded on the fact that during Christmas evening, thousands of people were arrested for violating prevention directives.

Commenting on the way forward to curb the same violation on New Year he said that violators will be apprehended.

Kabera added that measures to deal with those drinking while driving has been stepped up.
