Guinea’s interim President, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, has tasked the Syli Nationale to win the 2021 AFCON or reimburse any amount the nation will spend on them.

The Syli Nationale met the Head of State ahead of their trip to Kigali for the pre-AFCON training camp and gave them an ultimatum to win the trophy or pay back any money the nation used on them.

"The cup, or you reimburse the money that’s been invested in you,” Doumbouya told the team in a meeting, according to media reports, before they departed for Kigali.

Guinea has played thirteen times in the AFCON finals, with their best performance being a second place finish at the 1976 showpiece in Ethiopia.

They are scheduled to play two friendly matches against Rwanda’s national team (Amavubi) in Kigali before flying to Cameroon for the tournament.

Guinea have been placed in Group B along with giants Senegal, Malawi and Zimbabwe. They start their AFCON campaign against Malawi on January 10.
