Rwandan midfielder Gilbert Ishimwe has joined Swedish third tier side Orebro Syrianska from Eskilstuna City on a free transfer in the ongoing transfer window.

The 21-year-old midfield anchor appended his signature to a one-year deal with an option for extension at the end of the 2022 Swedish League season.

Ishimwe is expected to bring stability into the midfield of Orebro for the coming campaign as they seek to qualify to the second division after finishing eleventh on the league log last season.

Born in Sweden to Rwandan parents, Ishimwe started his career with IFK Eskilstuna before moving to the Under 19 side of AFC United after which he joined Eskilstuna City.

He is eligible to play for Sweden and Rwanda but is yet to be capped at international level.
