40 babies born in Kigali major hospitals on Christmas

How amazing is it to share a birthday with Jesus Christ? That is the privilege the 40 babies born on December 25 across the City of Kigali will have.

According to a mini-survey conducted by The New Times, the Christmas babies consisted of 15 born from Muhima Hospital, 11 from Kibagabaga Hospital, 6 babies from Hôpital Croix du Sud, and Kacyiru Hospital had 11 Christmas babies and 7 from CHUK.

Benita Uwamahoro who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at Kibagabaga hospital was thankful for giving birth on such a special day.

She named her baby Merveille Usanase, who happens to be her firstborn.

"My baby was born at 02:00 am, I had a safe delivery which I Thank God for, as a Christian this day is not only special to me because Jesus was born but it will be for my child too who,” she said.

Rachel Nyiramugisha the mother of newborn Noëlla Iratabara was overjoyed describing her baby as a "blessing” adding that she named her baby after a very important day she was born on.

She also added that it is a great Joy to be holding a baby on Christmas day saying it calls for double celebration.

The Kacyiru Hospital that witnessed the delivery of 11 Christmas babies held a celebration at the hospital for the newborns.

The hospital’s Public Relations and Communication Officer, Daniel Ntirenganya said that as a way to celebrate these babies they gave the mothers and the babies gifts, which is also a tradition in their hospital.

December 25, is a day celebrated by billions of people around the world as a religious and cultural celebration, Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.
