RENOWNED RWANDAN RAPPER, Ish Kevin has been ranked ninth in top 12 best African rappers who made 2021 a wondrous year for the rap culture on the continent according to a latest ranking by The Native.

The Native is a leading music magazine based in Lagos, London and New York which aims at documenting music, culture and style of Africa.

In their 2021 release on top 12 best rappers in Africa, The Native relied on indicators such as content, beat, flow, attitude and delivery.

The ‘Amakosi’ hit maker is the first Rwandan artiste to appear on the list securing the ninth position on the whole continent.

Sarkodie, A-Reece, Jay Bahd, Ladpoe, Pyscho Yp, and show Them Camp are among the rappers that made on the top 12 list.

In 2021, it’s absolutely spot-on to refer to Ish Kevin as one of the best and biggest Drill artists in Africa and by extension, one of the best and biggest rap artists in Africa, The Native reported.

By summer, The Native said that Ish Kevin had already sealed his place as Rwandan Drill’s front-runner with "No Cap,” a sturdy banger acclaimed as one of the hardest Drill songs of the year by GRM Daily.

The magazine added that Ish Kevin’s gift as a formidable rap artist is undeniable, as is his star power, and the success of his recent Stadium-size headlining concert is overwhelming evidence.

Talking with The New Times, Ish Kevin said that making high charts on the continent and globally is something to celebrate on a national level because it’s for the first time.

He added that such recognition is promising a good entry for the industry in the New Year of 2022 which is a few weeks away.

"This is a huge move for me and the Trappish movement that have been there for me since the beginning of this journey. It is safe to say that 2022 will be hard working year that could even make us the first on the ranking,” he said.

Ish Kevin disclosed that his long awaited project Trappish Mixtape 2 will drop early January next year with the help of a renowned music distribution label dubbed Onerpm.

The mixtape will also feature top international artistes which are a surprise to all his fans.
