Kiyovu defeat Rayon Sports to go top of league table

Kiyovu Sport made their title winning intentions clear on Sunday afternoon as they outplayed and beat bitter rivals Rayon Sports by two goals to nothing at the Kigali Stadium in Nyamirambo.

The highly entertaining game which was the pick of the week saw Kiyovu dominate proceedings as their counterparts chased the game from the start to end.

It took just eighteen minutes on the clock for Kevin Ishimwe to fire his side ahead with a good finish as the Rayon Sports back line looked disorganized.

Ugandan skipper Emmanuel Okwi who was leading Kiyovu attack added the second in the 64th minute and there was no come back for Rayon Sports as coach Francis Harigingo varied his tactics by letting his players to close all the empty spaces.

Pressure has started mounting on Rayon Sports tactician Masudi Djuma as he has won just three games with two draws and two defeats. He has also lost to two of the title contenders namely APR and Kiyovu. 

Some of the club's fans poured their displeasure on twitter asking management to fire him over poor results.

Elsewhere, Ghanaian striker William Opoku-Mensah was the hero of the day as he netted a hat trick in Mukura Victory's 4-0 win over Etoile de l'est. He scored in the 9th, 27th and 90th minutes whereas the other goal was scored by Abubakar Djibrine in the 84th minute.

League leaders AS Kigali were held to a shocking 1-1 draw by visiting Musanze. Both goals were scored in the second half with Hussein Shaban netting for the home side in the 57th minute while Imran Nshimiyimana leveled up for Musanze with fifteen minutes to full time.

Elsewhere, Police FC could not count on home advantage as they only managed a barren draw with Gicumbi FC

Bugesera FC vented their anger on Marines FC over their recent poor form. The Nyamata based club went to the Umuganda Stadum to wallop Marines FC by six goals to two. Nigerian attacker Chukwuma Odili netted a hat trick with Sadick Sulley, Baransananikiye Jackson and Hakizimana Zuberi adding one each. Marines also had  Ndagisenga Ramadhan on the score sheet.

Gasogi Unitedd were also held to a goalless draw by visiting Espoir FC. 

Gorilla will also entertain Enticelles on Monday afternoon whereas APR who were on African club competition duty in Morocco will face Rutsiro in a later date.
