Rwandan embassy in Senegal celebrates 10th anniversary

The Rwandan Embassy in Dakar, Senegal yesterday, November 30, held a ceremony to celebrate its 10-year anniversary of operation.

During the ceremony, Claudine Uwera, Rwanda's Secretary of State for Planning in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, who was the chief guest at the celebrations, described Rwanda and Senegal as countries with a long-standing relationship.

She pointed out that in the context of cooperation, agreements have been signed at various levels and are being implemented.

 "The anniversary is also here to highlight and strengthen the relationship between the two countries and there is a willingness to sign agreements in order to further enhance the political, economic, cultural and scientific ties,” she said.

 The Rwandan Ambassador to Senegal, Jean Pierre Karabaranga, thanked the large community that work hand in hand with the Rwandan embassy such as the government of Senegal and international organisations, in putting some activities to life.

These activities, he said, include commemorating the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, Liberation Day, Heroes' Day, International Women's Day, Africa Day, Community Service, and other national programs including youth programs, among many others.

Ambassador Karabaranga also thanked Senegalese investors for their willingness to invest in Rwanda and encouraged others to visit Rwanda in order to see the opportunities available for investment and the benefits of investing in the country.

 The ceremony was also attended by delegates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Senegal and other top officials in the country including investors.

Malick Diouf, adviser to the Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that Rwanda and Senegal will continue to strengthen their good relationship for the benefit of the people of both States.

 Babacar Ngom, President of the Senegalese Investment Forum, described Rwanda as a model country in many aspects including security, cleanliness, service delivery, high investment opportunities and more, all built on good governance.

 In celebration of the 10th anniversary, prizes were also awarded for the Online Quiz competition, which aimed at making Rwanda more popular, especially to encourage people to visit and invest in Rwanda.

The winners won RwandAir tickets to tour Rwanda, accommodation at some of Rwanda's top hotels and parks and museums, and made in Rwanda products.
