Shanitah Umunyana in Tanzania for Miss East Africa

MISS RWANDA 2018 first runner up Shanitah Umunyana is Tanzania for the forthcoming Miss East Africa 2021 beauty contest slated for December 17.

The Miss East Africa beauty pageant which is targeted to be an annual regional event is back after a 9-year break since being held first in Tanzania in 1996 to 2012. 

The regional beauty contest will bring together contestants from 16 African countries including the host nation Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Zambia, Mauritius, Comoros, Seychelles, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Eritrea among others.

Miss Shanitah was crowned Miss Supranational Rwanda 2019 and represented the country at Miss Supranational 2019 held in Poland. She also represented Rwanda at Miss University Africa in 2018 and scooped three awards for ‘’The President’s Choice Award”, "Best Video Presentation Award” and "Best Social Work Award”.

Organisers of Miss East Africa signed an agreement with Wasafi Tv as their official media partner.  Miss Rwanda 2016 winner, Jolly Mutesi was appointed the Vice President of Miss East Africa in June.

The winner of Miss East Africa 2021 will walk away with a brand new Nissan x trail car 2021 version worth USD44, 000 and a monthly pay of USD1, 500 which she will get within a period of 12 months. The first and second runners-up will pocket USD 5, 000 and 3, 000 respectively. 

 Miss East Africa is a pageant that emphasizes the beauty of the soul, intelligence, talent of women in the East African region and gives young women a platform to discover, improve and ignite self-confidence.
