Long time ago birds and tortoises were friends. They lived in harmony with each other sharing each and every thing.
Birds always trusted Tortoise and they genuinely loved him. But he was always cunning towards them.

One day, there was a party in the skies for the birds. Tortoise wanted to attend with his friends but he had no wings to fly with them.

Since birds were such good friends with Tortoise, they called for a meeting to see how they could go with him. They agreed that each bird would give Tortoise a feather that would help him fly to the party in the sky.

This made him excited and grateful to his friends. Time for their departure came and Tortoise was ready to fly. Tortoise called for a meeting where he was to give names to each and every bird. Since he was a cunning animal, he named himself ‘EVERYBODY’.

Thereafter, they flew off sky high into the clouds.
The tortoise was a clever speaker, so they made him in charge of the party. When food was brought for the visitors, Tortoise asked whose food it was for. The guests responded, "It is for every body.

Since he had named himself ‘Everybody’, he ate the food alone and the birds stayed hungry throughout the whole party. The birds were so angry with Tortoise. So on when they were flying back, the birds plucked off their feathers from him.

Tortoise fell from the skies and his hard shell cracked. His children until today have suffered the same fate of being born with cracked shells.
